Not Dead Yet - 9/30/26

No, I’m not dead yet.

Lots of emails and text messages and direct messages and smoke signals wondering why Women In Horror Year has fallen silent, and why the weekly Sunday newsletter has been absent. Mary and I are deep into the last stages of making the West Virginia house habitable, and I’ve been spending every other day between the two. Today (Wednesday) I’m in West Virginia. Tomorrow (Thursday) I’ll be in Pennsylvania. Friday West Virginia. Saturday Pennsylvania. And so on and so on and shooby doobie doobie.

I expect everything to return to normal broadcast status come November 1st.

In the meantime, my sincere thanks and appreciation to Bryan Smith, whose help in furnishing daily content for my Patreon subscribers has been an absolute godsend.

And my sincere thanks and appreciation to both Christopher Golden and Laurel Hightower, both of whom have been wonderful in giving me the time and grace I need to get this done, so that I can get back to working on the stuff I’m doing with them. (And Laurel’s kid has been a perfect taskmaster in reminding us both that we’re meant to be working on a novel, rather than Mister Brian moving boxes for five hours back and forth).

Thanks as well to editors/publishers/agents Christoph Paul, William Shafer, Paul Goblirsch, Jason Sizemore, Kasey Lansdale, Ed Schlessinger, and Howard Morhaim for their patience and understanding.

And finally, as always, my deepest appreciation and respect to you, my readers. Next year, we’ll have been on this road together for thirty-one years. Some of you have been here since the beginning. Some of you have only recently joined us. But whenever you signed on, know that I appreciate your patronage and support, and know that I am not dead yet, and there is still more to come…
