Back on the set of DEAD FORMAT this weekend. Crew call at 9:30am this morning, which is way better than those early morning calls. We’ll probably go until 10:30 or 11 tonight. Since fellow Producer Nathan Ludwig will also be on hand this weekend, I’ll focus on logistics, which means overseeing catering / craft services, making sure everyone gets fed, making sure everyone is good and feeling valued and included, and playing gopher. (I’ll go for longer extension cords, bags of ice, lumber, more water, and other things we either run out of or lose, because something as simple as a missing light can grind production to a halt. A good Producer knows the quickest, closest, and easiest location to procure any of the 5,000 things that may be needed at any moment to prevent any of the 5,000 things that can go wrong).
Did you know that you can still back DEAD FORMAT here?
I never got into this business to be a Film Producer, but what I’ve discovered over the course of several movies now is that it is something I very much enjoy. I’d never be a good Director or AD, because I don’t think visually. And I don’t care for writing screenplays. But I’m good at — and enjoy — keeping al the proverbial trains running on time and solving crises as they happen, and before they actually become a crisis.
Been thinking about what I’d like to Produce next, and think I may have found it during a conversation at AuthorCon last weekend. But more on that down the road…
