Mary reminded me that Sundays are supposed to be my day off, so other than posting two items of daily content to Patreon, I did not work yesterday. Instead, we visited my parents, and went to three different flea markets and farmer’s markets in Thomasville and Hanover. She bought some model train terrain and some art and crafting supplies. I bought some old comic books. I also bought first edition Leisure paperbacks of THE RISING and DEAD SEA at $20 each.

Why?

Because they were being sold as “Signed” and when I looked at the signature in THE RISING, I saw that it wasn’t mine. It wasn’t even a good copy of mine. The one in DEAD SEA was a little better. They got my ‘B’ right. But still not mine.

Understand — I do not think the vendor was doing anything rotten. I suspect the vendor simply picked these up somewhere along the way and assumed the signatures were mine. If the vendor had been up to no good, then it stands to reason they’d have been selling those books for more than $20 each.

Anyway, I sprung for them, to prevent somebody who does dig my books from coming along and saying “Oh wow! Signed first editions!” and buying them, only to be disappointed when they message me on social media and ask, “Are these really your signatures?”
