Zombie Holocaust
While at CONvergence last weekend, I stopped by the Dreamhaven Books table and spent too much money. One of the books I purchased was Zombie Holocaust: How The Living Dead Devoured Pop Culture by David Flint. I was happy to learn that he included The Rising and City of the Dead in the chapter focusing on zombie lit, and said some nice things about them. Check it out, if you get the chance.
Also, there are apparently still some of you who don’t realize there is a third book in The Rising series, because I’m still getting at least one email per week asking, “When are you going to write another book set in the world of The Rising?” I did already. It’s called The Rising: Selected Scenes From the End of the World. That’s it. When you get to the end of this one, I think you’ll agree it would be damn hard to do a fourth book.

I can’t believe I did not know there was a third book in the series!

But you said at Hypericon that you had a new idea for the next Rising novel. It came to you in a dream!
I know. I’ll go away now.

JOHN: I said I had an *idea* on how to do it. That doesn’t mean I’d actually write it though. I don’t know that the idea could fill an entire book.
TRAVIS: Necrophobia is just a slim chapbook (about 60 pages). It has four short stories set in the world of The Rising. It’s not a full length novel, though.

If you don’t mind waiting, you’ll be able to get the four stories cheaper sooner or later. Brett McBean’s story, for example, is slated to be reprinted in his new collection (which comes out in trade paperback later this year). And I’m sure that Mike Oliveri and John Urbancik will reprint their stories sooner or later, as well.

Wridey: I guess you could pretend “The Rising” is a Prequel to “City”, in your case lol. Two of my favorite books!
