Digest 10/25/25

A digest because I was at the store today, and it was one of those days where we were busy, but then it would slow down and as soon as I got a moment to write, we’d get busy again. So there was no time to write thoughtful Blog essay. Indeed, about the longest thing I wrote today were some DMs back and forth with Shooter Jennings.

Mary and I have dinner tonight with violinist and DEAD FORMAT backer Jonathan Yudkin, who is in town for a set visit and a Walking Tour tomorrow. The cast and crew have been doing night shoots this weekend. Pretty grueling stuff, and given that much of it has been outdoors, even moreso. Very proud of everyone involved.

As a general rule of thumb, it's always a safe bet to disregard anything Patrick Tomlinson says, but it’s nice to see major media outlets are now fact-checking him, as well.

The final in-store signing at Vortex Books and Comics takes place next Sunday, November 2nd from 1pm to 3pm. Joining us will be Laurel Hightower and Beau Johnson. Beau is traveling all the way from Canada, so make an extra special effort to attend. We will have plenty of their books in stock, including Laurel’s brand-new release. You can also bring books from home to be signed. As I said, this will be our last in-store signing before we begin making the transition to online only, so this is your last chance to attend one of these.

(Laurel’s boyfriend Frank is coming along, too. I’m in charge of picking him up at the airport. I like Frank, but Frank doesn’t like the Eagles, Journey, or U2, and thinks anyone who does is suspect, even though that includes his girlfriend and her friend, so I may, in fact, have timed exactly how long it takes to get from the airport to the cabin Frank and laurel will be staying in, and I may have made a Journey, Eagles, and U2 playlist for that particular drive).
