Late last year, Chris Golden decided he wanted to do a big cross-country signing tour the way J. F. Gonzalez and I used to do — and something I see C. J. Leede and a few others among the new generation doing now. And I told Chris just that — the days of a cross-country mass signing tour were behind me, and behind him as well, and we were too old for that shit, and it was better we stay home and let the kids do them.

And then yesterday I took a look at my appearance and signing schedule for 2026, and… well, it’s not on the scale of those big tours Jesus and I used to pull off, but it ain’t exactly light, either. I guess AuthorCon VI kicked things off, but I don’t count that, since I’m actually one of the organizers of that event. In my mind, the official start of things is next weekend, in Gettysburg.

New episode of KEENEVERSATIONS went live last night, and it really is just THE HORROR SHOW WITH BRIAN KEENE 2.0 now, just without the size of the audience we formerly had. Adding Dave’s cremation urn as the third mic started as a bit — what was supposed to be a one-time gag, but has possessed Mary and I both with an energy and enthusiasm that I think was lacking before. Although, as I type this, it occurs to me that it took THE HORROR SHOW about a year to find its voice and footing. As KEENEVERSATIONS is now in its second year, the same seems to be holding true. Yesterday’s work load involved a commissioned LOST LEVEL story, more on FALLING ANGELS, cover approvals for the UK paperback edition of TEOTWAWKI, some DEAD FORMAT scheduling, some Scares That Care scheduling, and many emails with Joe Lansdale (about Looney Tunes) and my attorneys (about the various AI stuff). Today will be more of that, on all levels, as well as finding the time to send out a quick Vortex newsletter.

Mike and I were supposed to go to Delaware this coming Saturday for DEAD FORMAT, but that is now dependant on the weather, so will keep an eye on that. If we don’t go, then I will use the time to write the bazillion other things above.
