So, Ghoul has been out on DVD for a few months now. You can buy it here, catch a rerun on Chiller, or rent it via Redbox, etc. Some of you liked it. Some of you didn’t. I’m cool with both camps (except for the element of the ‘Didn’t Like It’ crowd who seem to think I personally made the movie and berate me about it on Facebook and Twitter. A note to those folks: I didn’t make the movie. I just wrote the book — which is currently available in paperback, Kindle, and Nook.)
Anyway, now Dark Hollow is gearing up for production (which will hopefully start soon). If one of your complaints about Ghoul was that it diverged from the book, then I hope you’ve ‘Liked’ the Dark Hollow Facebook page. If so, then you’ve probably seen by now that Raven Banner and director Paul Campion are staying true to the novel — Satyr penis, and all.
You’ve probably also seen how interactive they are, asking fans to chime in on casting suggestions, etc. And all the cool freebies they’ve been offering, like a high-resolution download of the movie poster.

Sinister comes out this weekend. I encourage all of you to go see it. Twice. Sinister is written by my friends C. Robert Cargill and Scott Derrickson, who are also behind the big-screen adaptation of my novel Darkness On The Edge Of Town. Please show them your support.
Updates on my movie stuff: Ghoul and Fast Zombies Suck will be out on DVD in January. Dark Hollow starts filming next Spring. Darkness On The Edge Of Town, Castaways, The Cage, and The Siqqusim Who Stole Christmas are all in development (the latter under the title Who Shot Santa?) For a list of all the films based on my work, click here.
Director Paul Campion (The Devil’s Rock) is presenting his plan for the big screen adaptation of Dark Hollow at the Fantasia International Film Festival today. Cross your fingers and hope for the production to get a green light. Paul will be posting live updates to the Dark Hollow movie Facebook page, so make sure you “Like” it so you don’t miss the news if and when it breaks. I won’t be posting the news here, because…
…I’ll be heading to New York later today for a meeting tomorrow morning regarding potential film adaptations of The Rising and Dead Sea. Now… don’t get all worked up yet. The Rising has been optioned several times, but has never managed to get off the ground. Maybe things will be different this time, but it’s way too early to celebrate.
Finally, the film adaptation of Fast Zombies Suck begins shooting in Central PA in just a few weeks. We will be putting out a call for extras very soon, so if you’ve ever wanted to play a zombie in a Brian Keene movie (or in this case, play a person playing a zombie at a zombie walk in a Brian Keene movie) stay tuned.
For those keeping track, that leaves us with Ghoul and The Ties That Bind both having been filmed, Fast Zombies Suck in production, and Dark Hollow, Castaways, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Cage, and The Siqqusim Who Stole Christmas in development.
