GHOUL PREMIERE: All You Need To Know (UPDATED)

(This post will be updated throughout the week)

GHOUL premieres this Friday (April 13th) on Chiller at 9pm EST. Click here to watch the trailer. Click here to watch a teaser. If your local cable provider doesn’t have Chiller, click here to request they carry it. There will also be an eventual DVD release.

Here are the movie’s official Facebook, Twitter, and website. Here are a new batch of behind the scenes production photos. And here is the most recent review. (For more reviews and photos, click either the Ghoul or Movies tags on the right-hand sidebar of this page and scroll back through the archives).

547474_432822273398511_259816214032452_1769708_1802992139_nGHOUL is also available as a book in paperback, Kindle, Nook, and audio. The movie soundtrack is also available for purchase here.

On Friday night, I’d like all of you, whether you have Chiller or not, to join me on Twitter starting at around 7pm EST. Because all of us — ALL OF US — are gonna party together! If you’re watching at home by yourself, give us your thoughts. If you’re having a party with your friends, post some pics for us. If you don’t get Chiller, join the conversation and let us cheer you up. Most importantly, in order to keep this virtual party and online celebration cohesive and coherent, use the #GhoulOnChiller hash-tag in all of your 247643_218750101486104_100000533470222_824584_5561313_nTweets (so that folks can click that hash-tag and see all of the comments, Tweets, pics, etc.). I’ll be re-tweeting some of the best, but I can’t re-tweet everything, so I can’t stress enough — use the #GhoulOnChiller hash-tag!

For those of you not on Twitter, if you want to join the party, I recommend that 226612_218411301519984_100000533470222_822215_2025356_nyou join Twitter in the next four days. I won’t be active on Facebook or my message board or elsewhere during this event (that’s just way too many balls to juggle). Twitter is the easiest place to do something like this. I hope that you’ll join us.

So that it doesn’t get lost in all of the 559495_432824410064964_259816214032452_1769733_1231419171_nupdates above, a reminder that the movie soundtrack is now on sale at iTunes.

I already have dvr’d it for two different times- just in case cable messes up or the husband gets control of the remote. The twitter thing sounds cool, I’ll try and be there.

Timezone issues may rule me out but I’ve shared this post via facebook and twitter – I’ll do the same with the others as the week progresses.

Have a great launch, Brian. Looking forward to reading all about it on the blog.

I’m having a GHOUL party at my house. I’ve been waiting on this for along time. It was number two on my list for your books made into movies. I was wondering if your still going to be calling people at there home? If so I will e-mail my phone number to you.

I have to work that night and I don’t get Chiller. However, my sister and her husband do get Chiller and they will be on their way to Italy this weekend. They have the DVR set up for me. So once I get off from work and come home to make sure my wife and kids are sleeping, I’ll jump in the car and head one town over to watch it.

ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO PERFECTING YOUR GHOUL PREMIERE PARTY
    By Tara Tannenbaum

First and foremost, let me start by saying that I am not having anyone over to watch the Ghoul Premiere on Chiller Channel. The reason for this is that I am selfish, and don’t want to be bothered by other people why I am trying to watch my favorite author’s literary masterpiece come to life on my television. To me, this movie is just as important as something like The Hunger Games premiere at the theater.

I realize that some of you may want to have a few buddies over to join you for this momentous occasion, which is perfectly acceptable. It is for these people I would like to offer a few suggestions. Please consider the following list of do’s and don’ts.

    FOOD

At most parties, food is an essential element. However, if you throw a party to watch a horror movie, you have to consider your risk factors, which include, but are not limited to:
    How scary is the movie?
    Is there blood and violence?
    Do people get eaten?

Because this is the TV Premiere of the movie, you really have no way of knowing the answers to these questions, so your only option is to gage it reading the book (which is available here http://www.amazon.com/Ghoul-ebook/dp/B007FMTWOQ). If you haven’t read the book, you are sorely missing out, my friend, but in case you don’t have time before Friday, let me recommend light appetizers for your food choice. You could even do something themed, such as Goblin Feet and Ghoulish Green Smoothies. I’m not sure about mixing in alcohol… you don’t want someone puking all over your couch or carpet.

    LUNCH BAGS

Lunch Bags can be used for a number of different things, such as leftover appetizers, party favors, and of course barf bags. You have to be prepared for everything, folks. I promise you won’t regret purchasing them.

    WINDEX

I know this sounds like a funny thing to have on hand, but one must use it to clean the dirty TV. The Ghoul will be ugly enough on his own without adding your inch of thick brown dust on top of him on the screen. Your guests will thank you. Also, it will be useful to your guests so that they are able to periodically clean their overly tweeting touch screen smart phones. (Remember, Brian Keene’s twitter party starts at 7pm ET #GhoulOnChiller).
    TOILET PAPER

Don’t forget the T.P! You may be serving food and drinks; therefore it will be processed and expelled from your guest’s bodies at some point. Remember, you will all be watching a badass horror movie, which could cause squeamishness and overactive bowels. Hey, I’m just putting it out there. Trust me, buy some damn toilet paper.

    WIFI

Make sure that your WIFI is up and running. Your guests will appreciate being able to upload their instagram photos, tweets, and facebook posts quickly and easily. No one likes to rely on their cell phone carrier’s somewhat shoddy Internet service.

    A DECENT TELEVISION

No one wants to watch a horror movie of this quality on a little bitty 1980’s box style TV. You need something that is “super bowl quality” for your party. I’m kind of disappointed that Wal-Mart isn’t running a sale JUST for this premiere! And remember, make sure it is CLEAN.

    PARTY FAVORS

Make your guests remember your soiree by getting them an awesome party favor. My suggestion is a paperback Brian Keene novel. If they have read Ghoul, you might consider getting them Castaways, since it is soon to be a another Chiller channel hit.

These are my suggestions for perfecting your Ghoul premiere party. Hopefully they will help aid you in pulling off an excellent evening filled with fun, while paying homage to someone I personally think should be a horror book household name.

With the Dreadful Tales viewing party being officially cancelled, I am having a few lovely folks over and playing the (un)Official Ghoul Drinking Game. I tried to keep it relatively spoiler free because a few of my friends haven’t read the story yet. We plan on doing the sipping from 16 oz cans of cheap domestic goodness and the shots will come courtesy of Knob Creek. Here are the rules as they currently stand:

    Sip
    Mr. Smeltzer drinks
    A character mentions Catcher
A reference is made to Star Wars
    The boys ride their bikes

    Shot
If Timmy has the Friday the 13th poster in his room
    A missing car is found
Barry has a revelation about “monsters”

Again, I tried to keep these relatively spoiler free and basic. If anyone has additional ideas post ‘em and I’ll add them to my list!

Friday night can’t get here fast enough!
