Two For Tuesday

1. My first three Deadite Press releases – Urban Gothic, Jack’s Magic Beans and Clickers II (with J.F. Gonzalez) may be available in trade paperback as early as next week. Digital editions will follow a few weeks after. Next month’s releases will be A Gathering of Crows and Take the Long Way Home.

2. We broke the internet. Again. Apparently, despite reservation info being offered on other Blogs and via the Shocklines forum, my weekend post regarding Portents caused an email deluge to Al Sarrantonio’s inbox. Thanks for your interest. Please be patient. Al will respond to everyone in time. Meanwhile, if you don’t need to reserve a low number, you might consider holding off until things settle down.

2.5 Speaking of deluges, there will be no chapter of Deluge this week. That’s because I’ve been busy writing you other things like The Witching Tree (finished), The Last Zombie: Inferno #1 (finished) and Hollow Inside (coming along nicely, thank you).

Just want to ask where will your books be avaliable at? Went to Barnes and Noble over the weekend and they did not have any Keene, Bryan Smith or Edward Lee books on shelf. Asked employee and they had no answer but could order some not all of back books. Please let me know where I can find future releases from yourself.–mjk—

Matthew: If you scroll back through the Archives here, or just type “Dorchester” and “Leisure” into this website’s search engine (at the bottom) you’ll see that our publisher had financial troubles last year. That’s why you can’t find any Lee, Smith, Keene, Gonzalez, etc.

Here’s the info on the new publisher: http://www.briankeene.com/?p=5435

The books will be available via Amazon and select bookstores (meaning the bookstore managers will be responsible for ordering them).

So I wanted to ask: there has been no mention whatsoever of mass market paperbacks anywhere. Are those days over for the forseeable future or is that another curtain you’re waiting to pull back?

Ryan: Publishers in general are doing less mass market paperbacks in favor of trade paperbacks and digital. I predict that in another five years, mass market paperbacks will be like cassette tapes. Sad but true.
