Would you pay $30 for what I consider to be the best short story of my fifteen year career (a tale called “Johnstown”)? What if for that same $30 you also got new stories by Gene Wolfe, Joyce Carol Oates, Ramsey Campbell, Joe R. Lansdale, Kit Reed, Tia V. Travis, Melanie Tem, Steve Rasnic Tem, Kealan Patrick Burke, Neal Barrett, Jr., Christopher Fowler, Elizabeth Massie, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Kim Newman, Michael Laimo, Jeffrey Ford, Tom Piccirilli and Alan M. Clark? Of course you would. You’d be a fool not to.
Portents, edited by the legendary Al Sarrantonio, is a beautiful new hardcover anthology limited to only 1,000 copies. It’s only $30 (plus $5 S&H). It won’t be available in stores. It’s available only from Al himself. And here’s the best part. Although it hasn’t officially gone on sale yet, you can email Al directly and request your copy now. He’ll reserve one for you. Then you pay via PayPal, check or money order. Copies begin shipping next week! At this low price and with that incredible line-up, this book will sell out fast. Email Al at Flyingfoxpub @ aol dot com (and tell him I sent you).

Can’t wait for this one. Paid for my copy earlier today.
Johnstown?? That is where most of my relatives are from. Have a few that died in the floods..Can’t wait to see what this is all about..
Rick: It’s all about the floods and unrequited love, and the impact both have on the town’s psyche. And a killer.
awesome…Like i said above i had two relatives that died in the flood..(that isn’t the awesome part)..hope that i can scrounge up the money to read this.
ok i lied..not really just going by what i was told..but looking at a site that has a listing..i have one relative that went missing..
looking at the listings..i see that there are some Keenes in there as well…

Probably not my relatives though. Most of my kin came from West Virginia and Kentucky.
Have you done any research on that? just wondering cuz you never know..
I love ya man, but I get left out of a lot of cool shit because I don’t have a way to buy online. I would totally buy this book though, too bad I can’t. I wish writers would stop doing this online crap where you can only get shit online, it really sucks. I realize that its my problem, it just really pisses me off.
Sorry about the rant Brian.
RICK: Yeah, we’ve got the family tree all the way back to Ireland.
DANIEL: But this book *isn’t being sold online*. It’s being sold via the mail. If you email him, he’ll give you several options (check, money order, etc.) Once you mail him the payment, and it clears, the book gets mailed to you. No orders are being processed online.
Johnstown? Isn’t that the name of a Springsteen song?
Yep. this is the one I originally wrote for that Springsteen anthology.
Just sent an email to order my copy.
Yep, I mentioned I heard about it on BrianKeene.com.
The more I read this site, the more money I spend.
Worth every penny, too.
Waiting to hear back from Al.
Email sent.
Still waiting to hear back…
Lot of other folks are, too. Since most of the authors announced it over the weekend, I’m sure he got a TON of emails.
Awesome hopefully I’m not too late! Very excited!

Cheers!
